“For the Lord Loves Justice”

By | February 2, 2014

John Piper, Mark Dever and Wayne Grudem praising C.J. Mahaney.

“For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints.”
Psalm 37:28

“The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.”
Psalm 37:30-31

“The meaning is, first, that the righteous speak honourably and reverently of the righteousness of God, that they may cherish in themselves and others, to a large extent, the knowledge and the fear of God; secondly, that both in their own affairs and those of others, they approve, without disguise or deceit, of what is just and reasonable, and are not given  to justify what is wrong under the colour and varnish of sophistry; and, finally, that they never depart from the truth. The source whence this integrity of heart proceed is, that the law of God has its seat in the heart; and it is it alone which prescribes the best rule of life and imbues the minds of men with the love of righteousness.”
-John Calvin, “Heart Aflame: Daily Readings From Calvin on the Psalms”,  page 114

Joining the nausea factor. Am ashamed that Piper and Grudem were once heroes. And I recall that Piper is a particular passionate campaigner against abortion and for the rights of the unborn child? Do living children not quite matter as much?

I am severely discouraged by the massive chasm between the way the New Testament presents “gifts of the ascended Christ” – and these evangelical “celebrity” pastors. Paul the apostle went out and sewed tents for a living. This bunch churn out books from sympathetic publishers and raise and donate money to each other (£10K from Mahaney personally to Mohler wasn’t it?! I can’t even DREAM of that money!).

Thanks Todd – your wonderful quotes are a reminder that the current situation is unacceptable and we shouldn’t judge God and our relationship with Him by our encounter with aspects of the church.

PS: as a resident of the UK, you may not know that “celebrity” worship leader Bob Kauflin is coming to UK soon to lead a Worship conference, and alas have managed to rope in “friends” – Stuart Townend, and other Newfrontiers worship leaders to add credibility to SGM UK. Grieving yet again that “friendship” and conference monies seem to matter more than truth and protection of the vulnerable!!

Thanks for commenting Dan. I am sorry to hear that Stuart Townend is appearing with Bob Kauflin. Mahaney and friends seem to have manipulation down to an art form. They constantly are after Christian celebrities to appear at their church or conferences with them to thereby give them an air of credibility. I really like many of Stuart Townend’s songs. I know nothing of the man. Maybe he is unaware of the whole sexual abuse scandal?

I’m going to puke after listening to John Piper drool all over CJ.
