ARBCA Publishes Shameful Rant by John Giarrizzo

By | January 14, 2019

“Peace if possible, truth at all costs.”
-Martin Luther

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”
-Isaiah 5:20 NIV

The leaders of ARBCA have been foolish enough to publish a letter written by John Giarrizzo in their weekly newsletter dated January 8, 2019. In this letter Giarrizzo castigates his former Elders, without mentioning them by name, for being “reckless troublemakers.” In the preceding paragraph Giarrizzo speaks of a member who recently died, praising him for, among other things, being a man who never caused any problems.

The Elders whom Giarrizzo referred to were noble men who pursued the truth. They did the right thing. It is unfortunate that more local churches are not blessed with men of the caliber of the former Elders of GCC.  Giarrizzo’s thrashing of them only shows him to be a proud, unrepentant sinner, unqualified for church leadership.  At the end of his letter Giarrizzo speaks of a member of GCC who is going to be excommunicated from the church unless he repents! Kettle black, John?

I think Giarrizzo’s letter will serve to open the eyes of church leaders who remain members of ARBCA to the ongoing corruption infesting the leadership of ARBCA. Why would anyone want to remain in an association who publishes letters such as the one written by Giarrizzo?

Below are quotes from the Elder’s report on Giarrizzo’s involvement in the coverup of the Tom Chantry Scandal.

“The elders named above (Pete Smith, Mark Flin, Joe Godal, and Josh Rusev) are calling for Pastor John’s repentance for violating the mandates of Scripture listed below:

Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

Leviticus 19:11 “You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely: you shall not lie to one another.”

This report is focused on the deception and coverup of facts by ARBCA Pastor John Giarrizzo. It should be noted that Pastor John was an active member of the AC since the inception of the association in 1997 through 2002. Pastor John withheld this information from GCC elders until it was discovered by the Weinland’s and reported to the elders on August 4, 2018. For eight months GCC elders had been working off of the false premise, as communicated by Pastor John, that he was not on the ARBCA AC in 2000, an administrative council that he, himself, condemned.”

-Pete Smith, Mark Flin, Joe Godal, and Josh Rusev, former Elders of Grace Covenant Church in their report to the GCC congregation detailing “John Giarrizzo’s involvement in ARBCA’s Coverup of the Tom Chantry Scandal.”

Is anyone else annoyed/creeped-out by the constant exalted, spiritualized language of the denizens of ARBCA?

“Greetings to you in the name of our God, who has been our help in ages past and our hope for years to come”

“The Lord Jesus has faithfully preserved Grace Covenant Church throughout a turbulent 2018 in keeping with his promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against his church.”

“Since then Grace Covenant has been enjoying a close-knit unity and love that we had not known for many years”

“For our sweet unity in the church to grow even stronger”

“This sad providence is a clear reminder that we live in a fallen world where sin still runs wild without the Lord’s grace to restrain it”

Gag me with a spoon.

It’s like a weird form of Calvinistic Christianese. I grew up hearing that hyperbolic, pietistic claptrap crap and it still icks me out. Reminds me of Frodo’s observation that servants of The Enemy would “look fair and feel foul.”

Like this from David Giarrizzo?

https://davidgiarrizzo.wordpress.com/2019/01/01/looking-back-on-2018/

“Our church—the church that I have attended since I was two years old—celebrated 33 years of God’s mercy and protection and continues to faithfully preach Christ and him crucified.”

“I was approved by congregational vote at church to be a ‘gifted brother’ (basically a formally recognized teacher)…have found myself taking on more and more teaching and preaching at church.”

“We observed the church of Christ attacked from both within and without”

“We were horrified by false accusations leveled against those we love….our Lord Jesus was falsely accused and he sympathizes with us”

“We were greatly disappointed by fellow church members who bought into suspicions, slander, and out-right lies”

“we were greatly encouraged by church members who stood boldly in defense of truth and the unjustly accused.

“We were abandoned”

“We were abused”

“Yet through every day our gracious God was kind to remind us through his Word and by his divine Spirit that not only is he the sovereign King who has decreed all things that come to pass, but also that all of these providences are meant for our good because of the unchanging love with which he has loved us in Christ.”

Wow! That’s really an eye-opening article. So now we know. John Giarrizzo has been given a victim’s status, complete with hero worship from his son, which is most probably indicative of the whole (what’s left of it) church. Not that he’s mentioned by name, mind you. That wouldn’t do at all. But the irony is clear. He was betrayed as Jesus Christ was. If only the son knew the real truth behind his words: “We witnessed professing Christians sin terribly and harden their hearts…”

To think that all this, all these churches that have split; the pain and suffering of untold members losing dear friendships and fellowship by resigning from an organization they loved and trusted; the families broken, their faith in one another shattered (I’m speaking of the children/victims families.., all stemming from the actions of one man, Tom Chantry. The far reaching consequences of his morally repugnant behavior never ceases to boggle my mind.

Just want to be heard

It’s funny how they play the victims. All the finger pointing towards the elders and those who left, yet THEY are then ones who made the calls and wrote the letters. Is calling someone out on their sin abuse? Is leaving a sinful pastor abandonment?
Truthfully, I am very grateful God has removed us from the whole situation. Seeing the true colors come out and how bad some behaved, I am truly grateful I won’t be sitting under those men. There was not love shown in their responses. I do not feel they are qualified to be teaching. I also worry for them, as the Bible says in James 3:1 “My brethren, let not many of you become teachers knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgement.”
I am praying for the victims and their families. My heart breaks for them. I am praying for justice and for truth to continue to come forth.

Just Passing Through

Even if the accusations towards John were false, though clearly the facts show otherwise, he did not respond at all in a Christlike manner. Christ, when seized by his accusers, stayed the hand of his deciple and admonished him for attacking the servant of the high priest. John has instead “released the dogs” upon the elders and they have shown no love, no grace or desire for reconciliation.

good subject to follow from now on. Thank you for this.

“neither can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof, but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God; whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. ”

Ironic words, eh?

Proverbs 10:19 (New King James Version) says: “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”

Many folks believe that this Scripture refers primarily to gossiping among the flock. I would submit that it also applies to false prophets attempting to camouflage their deceit with much flowery and eloquent language.

Scripture warns us in MANY different passages about not being deluded by persuasive speech (Colossians 2:4), about men who deceive the unsuspecting with their flowery speech (Romans 16:18), about impostors deceiving the brethren, etc.

In Matthew 10:16, Scripture commands us to be “wise as serpents, but innocent as doves.” It would be wrong to assume that we only need to exercise discernment and judgment when “out in the world”. Regrettably, I think many believers let down their guard when they walk through the church doors. They think they can trust people simply because they’re in church. Unfortunately, wolves can be found everywhere, sometimes even in church.

Just want to be heard

As a former member of GCC, this letter from JG to ARBCA is so sad.
First of all, I hope that anyone that is still at GCC would truly look at the elders who have left and realize that they can’t agree with the statement of them being “disgruntled” and “reckless trouble makers.” Really? These are men you sat under, they are not malicious men. They are men who truly shepherded us. They prayed with us, fellowshipped with us, corrected us, encouraged us. Their handling of the whole situation (including the month after the big meeting) was humble and patient. They stayed and answered questions, were honest and transparent. They truly shepherded the flock (unlike what some people have said). They left because they could no longer be associated with ARBCA and could no longer sit under JG who has greatly sinned in his response of this whole situation. He is the one who caused confusion and division.
How is it biblical to make phone calls to gain sympathy before a meeting? How is it biblical to voice record the reading of a letter to the members of the church and send it out to those who aren’t even a part of the congregation? How is it biblical to make phone calls, slandering elders and talking of their pasts? If anyone else had behaved in this way, they would have immediately been put under church discipline.
I am so tired of the lies and dishonesty from certain people who are still there, including JG. I am sad and disappointed at the fact that so many friendships have now become strained and awkward, and some are non existent. I guess that’s part of standing for truth?
I think my hope in posting this is that those who are still there would carefully look at the whole situation and pray and seek the scripture, so much scripture goes against everything that has happened and I still pray that those who are still there would see it.

As one who went through a really ugly and painful split, reconciliation with brothers and sisters won’t happen on any sort of scale. A few, but yes, awkward. I pray I’m wrong in your case. But the hurt is too deep, on both “factions”. But look at what side is being taken — the side for SDG or the side for men? Yet those who support a man out for his own glory is able to deceive many that he’s being persecuted for Christ’s name. Everyone else is wrong. Even years later the the wound is fresh,

Always be on the side of truth. I’m so sorry for your lost church and fellowship, He knows. You were brought out of Babylon.

Mind boggling how one worthless man created such carnage. Fully supported by other worthless men

Cindy

I went through a split as well. What you said seems true at this point. However, the leaders of the split loved up to many on all sides through the years, as their real goals came to light.

Elizabeth

One must read the investigative report linked to in Todd’s article to fully understand the extraordinary gall and hypocrisy of this guy. It’s just stunning. When he realized the deacons were getting close to the truth, he threw ARBCA under the bus by agreeing there was a conspiracy by them (ARBCA) and then scrambling to resign his church from membership from them in order to hide his involvement with them. Apparently, the resignation never happened. With ARBCA publishing his letter in their newsletter, seems they forgot his betrayal and all is forgiven. Or perhaps they never read the deacons’ report? You just can’t make this stuff up. ARBCA needs to be careful with this one…he squeals when the heat is turned up.

Cindy

thank you for this observation

A “close-knit family” of sychophants and the brainwashed
How many of the “new” visitors are former members of the now defunct church in San Tan?

just passing through

Only 2 families remain at GCC that were formerly of San Tan. The elder, Rob, who is to be reinstated and a deacon that was already in office.

Searching For Truth

And everybody else who went to San Tan had no intentions of following these 2 men or being under the leadership of these two men. The very men who sent out the investigative report innapropriately early, and called the elders “tools of the devil”. No chance are they worthy of any office in the church, or any church. Not even GCC, but they don’t have much to choose from anymore… They are angry and still causing dissension, and we aren’t even there! Sending harassing texts to people is childish!! Grow up, move on, and let us move on as well. Spewing anger and hatred is what is happening under the guise of those “eloquent” words. There is no love. There has been no shepherding of the flock by JG for many years. Only those of his drinking, cigar smoking lackeys on Sunday nights.

Concerned Christian

I think you mean Steven Gonzalez and Rob Holmes.

Can't Be Sure

File a protective order if needed. Harassment is illegal. THIS is what the church needs to face: legalities!

In the early 2000’s our family put up with being harrassed by pulpit and phone for nearly two years before they excommunicated us for LEAVING a church. We were the down trodden just trying to leave. We were nobodies not trying to start our own and take members with us. Only thing any Christians we knew could think to say was it was our responsibility to work it out with our leaders, our hope of heaven hangs on it, etc., Seven years later, my oldest child emails that pastor and asks what that was all about. YEAH, he never thought that children are going to grow up and call him to task. Seven years later the guy’s wife left him, wonder why, and he moved on to insurance sales. He was another Tom Chantry type, that I knew to run from! He was horrible to be around. It only took me a few months to know to get out of that church or the consequences were going to be bad, the likes of which I had never known.

I agree about taking legal action if anyone is harrassing you and refuses to cease contact.

In this case, I suggest sending the specific party or parties a certified letter saying that you will request a restraining order if their unwanted contact continues.

If it persists, you can then show a judge evidence that the other party was aware you considered their behavior offensive.

In most cases, the certified letter will likely stop the harrassment.

According to 1 John, he’s a liar, he’s deceiving himself, and the truth is not in him. He’s not a Christian. He’s a false shepherd and a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Mr. Jesperson

No wonder Jesus called the Pharisees “a brood of vipers” and “sons of the devil.” False leaders like this guy are just unrepentant power grubbing narcissists. I can assure you that hell does burn hot enough for men like these. Calling men who attempt to hold you accountable “trouble makers” is just so Pharisaical. It is political in the worse sense of the word, where nothing you do can possibly be wrong, and nothing the other party can do can possibly be right.

Sonja

That’s such a lovely photo. I get these ARBCA guys mixed up so pardon me in asking if this is the man whose entire board resigned after he told THEM to repent? And he’d be waiting with open arms.

He’s not fit to conduct church discipline. Does he not see that judgment starts in the church? And is he so blind he doesn’t see that judgment is well underway? I tremble for him and his “cohorts”.

It is appalling the Administrative Council is allowing Giarrizzo to put out this deceitful & arrogant condemnation of those who justly and necessarily exposed him. It shows, once again, no one on the current Administrative Council has any interest in serving the cause of Christ. If they did, they would be working to remove Giarrizzo from ministry rather than advancing his perverse self-preservation & advancement by the inclusion of this letter. I hope all those who left Grace Covenant Church (Gilbert, AZ) continue to expose & oppose Giarrizzo & ARBCA.

Douglas Belardi

the majority of the current (and past) Administrative Council are every bit as corrupt and arrogant
